These Terms & Conditions govern your use of NFPA’s website, online courses, certification exams, and related services. By using our website or enrolling in our programs, you agree to these terms.
Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before purchasing, enrolling in, accessing, or using NFPA certification programs, continuing education courses, digital materials, or other services.

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the National Fitness Professionals Association (“NFPA”) website, certification programs, continuing education courses, educational materials, examinations, member resources, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By purchasing, enrolling in, accessing, or using NFPA Services, you agree to these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not purchase or use the Services.
1. Agreement to These Terms
You are responsible for satisfying the eligibility requirements applicable to the NFPA program in which you enroll. Program-specific eligibility requirements are provided on the applicable certification or course page and may be updated as professional standards or program requirements change. For all NFPA Certifications, candidates must be at least 18 years of age. A current CPR/AED certification meeting NFPA requirements must be provided before examination results and the certificates can be issued.
All enrollment information you provide must be accurate, current, and complete. NFPA may deny or terminate enrollment when materially false or misleading information is submitted.

3. Online Programs and Digital Access
Unless a program or service is specifically identified otherwise, NFPA certification programs and educational products purchased through the website are delivered primarily through online or digital learning systems. Digital materials may include textbooks, manuals, videos, study guides, quizzes, practice materials, examinations, downloadable resources, and other educational content. Access generally begins after successful purchase and enrollment. You are responsible for maintaining a compatible device, internet connection, email account, and any software reasonably required to access the Services. NFPA may update learning platforms, course layouts, instructional materials, or delivery methods as technology and educational standards evolve.
Your NFPA account and course access are for your individual use. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity occurring through your account. You may not share account credentials, provide unauthorized access to NFPA courses, or distribute protected NFPA educational materials to another person. Unauthorized sharing, copying, or misuse may result in suspension or termination of access and other appropriate action.

5. Purchases and Payment
Prices and applicable fees are displayed at the time of purchase and are payable in U.S. dollars unless otherwise stated. NFPA currently processes online payments through PayPal. Payment processing is also subject to PayPal’s applicable terms, policies, and security practices. If PayPal or another third-party provider independently offers financing, deferred-payment, or similar payment options, those arrangements are between the purchaser and that provider unless NFPA expressly states otherwise. NFPA does not control the terms of third-party financing services.
NFPA certification programs, continuing education courses, examinations, study materials, and other digital educational products provide access to protected digital content. Because access to digital educational materials may be provided shortly after purchase, sales of digital programs and materials are non-refundable once purchased, to the extent permitted by applicable law. NFPA may, at its discretion, review documented exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Consideration of a request does not guarantee that a refund, credit, transfer, or other exception will be granted. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit rights that cannot legally be waived under applicable law.

7. Certification Requirements
Purchasing or accessing an NFPA certification program does not by itself guarantee certification. To earn an NFPA credential, a candidate must successfully complete all requirements applicable to the specific program, which may include coursework, examinations, assessments, documentation, CPR/AED requirements, or other stated requirements. Program requirements are described on the applicable NFPA certification page or within the course. NFPA may revise curriculum, examinations, policies, or certification requirements when reasonably necessary to maintain current educational and professional standards.
8. Examination Integrity
NFPA examinations and assessment materials are confidential educational and certification content. Candidates may not copy, record, reproduce, distribute, publish, photograph, transmit, sell, or disclose examination questions or protected assessment content except where NFPA has expressly authorized educational use. Cheating, impersonation, unauthorized assistance, misuse of examination materials, or other conduct that compromises assessment integrity may result in termination of access, invalidation of examination results, denial or revocation of certification, and other appropriate action.
9. Certification Renewal and Continuing Education
Maintaining an active NFPA certification may require continuing education, applicable renewal fees, current documentation, and compliance with NFPA renewal requirements. Current renewal information, including CEC requirements, renewal procedures, late requirements, refresher options, and reinstatement procedures, is maintained on the NFPA Certification Renewal pages. Current requirements include 10 CEC hours annually and a current CPR/AED card for renewal. Renewal and reinstatement policies may change as professional requirements and NFPA programs evolve. 10. Professional Use of NFPA Certification
NFPA certification represents successful completion of NFPA’s applicable educational and certification requirements. It does not constitute a government license unless a jurisdiction specifically recognizes it as such. Certification does not guarantee employment, compensation, business success, acceptance by every employer or facility, or any particular career result. Employers, fitness facilities, insurance companies, governmental authorities, and other third parties may establish their own education, certification, insurance, experience, or licensing requirements. Fitness professionals are responsible for determining the requirements that apply to their particular employment, business, location, or professional activity.
11. Professional Liability Insurance and Third-Party Requirements
NFPA may provide links or information regarding professional resources, including liability-insurance providers that recognize NFPA certification. Availability of such resources does not constitute an insurance contract or guarantee that any particular applicant will receive coverage. Eligibility, premiums, limits, exclusions, underwriting decisions, and policy terms are determined by the insurance provider. NFPA-certified professionals remain responsible for obtaining any insurance, permits, licenses, or other protections required for their individual professional activities.
NFPA certification does not authorize a fitness professional to practice medicine, diagnose disease or injury, prescribe medication, provide medical nutrition therapy, or perform services that require a separate professional license. Certified professionals are responsible for practicing within their education, competence, certification scope, and applicable laws and regulations, and for referring clients to qualified healthcare or other licensed professionals when appropriate.

13. Intellectual Property
NFPA educational content—including manuals, textbooks, study guides, videos, graphics, photographs, course modules, quizzes, examinations, practice materials, logos, trademarks, website content, and other proprietary materials—is owned by or licensed to NFPA and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Enrollment grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use NFPA materials for your own education and professional development. Unless NFPA gives prior written permission, you may not reproduce, distribute, upload, publish, modify, sell, sublicense, share, publicly display, or create unauthorized derivative works from protected NFPA content.
Users of NFPA Services are expected to behave professionally and respectfully. NFPA may restrict or terminate access for conduct including fraud, harassment, threats, cheating, misuse of course or examination materials, intellectual-property violations, unauthorized account sharing, disruption of NFPA systems, or other activity that materially harms NFPA, its students, or the integrity of its programs.
14. Acceptable Conduct
The NFPA website may contain links to independent third parties, including payment providers, insurance resources, analytics services, or other professional resources. Third-party websites and services operate under their own terms, privacy policies, eligibility requirements, and business practices. NFPA is not responsible for the content, availability, policies, products, services, or decisions of independent third parties.

Use of NFPA Services is also subject to the NFPA Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information is collected, used, retained, and protected.

NFPA strives to provide current, accurate, and professionally relevant fitness education. Exercise science, professional practices, technologies, laws, and industry standards may change over time. NFPA educational materials are provided for educational and professional-development purposes and are not a substitute for individualized medical, legal, financial, or other licensed professional advice.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, NFPA provides its website, educational materials, platforms, and Services on an “as is” and “as available” basis. NFPA does not warrant that every Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device, or suitable for every individual professional objective. Nothing in this section limits warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, NFPA will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to use of the website, educational materials, certification programs, or Services. Where applicable law does not permit certain limitations or exclusions of liability, those limitations will apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
19. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless NFPA and its officers, representatives, contractors, agents, and affiliates from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your unlawful use of NFPA Services, violation of these Terms, infringement of another person’s rights, or misuse of NFPA materials.
20. Indemnification
NFPA may update its programs, educational materials, policies, fees, certification requirements, or these Terms as reasonably necessary. When these Terms are materially revised, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Changes will not eliminate rights that applicable law does not permit NFPA to waive or modify retroactively.

22. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to applicable law, disputes arising from these Terms or NFPA Services will be brought in the appropriate state or federal courts serving Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.
23. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
24. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with applicable program requirements, the NFPA Privacy Policy, and any other policies expressly incorporated by reference, constitute the agreement governing your use of the applicable NFPA Services.
